Fly Fishing Film Tour & fishing

Ok once again I'm sorry for the delay in posts but I figured by now you guys would be use to it? I've been getting emails and voice messages lately saying "you must not be fishing much since you haven't updated your blog" or I've even had people ask me if I'm still guiding? I can assure you I am not going anywhere and if anything it has been the complete opposite. As a matter of fact I only have time to write this entry because it is pouring rain outside and I had to cancel my trip today. I have been slammed with charters since my last post and I have been trying to get the finishing touches put on the Fly Fishing Film Tour that myself and Mike Holliday are hosting on April 1st. So now that you know I am still alive and not working at McDonald's keep reading if you like.

First the Film Tour, last year was a huge success so this year we are bringing it back again. The show is on April 1st at the Lyric Theatre in downtown Stuart. For anyone that was there last year you know it was a great time to mix and mingle with other tarpon junkies and trout bums. Again we will have loads of giveaways including hats, t-shirts, Buffs, and a free raffle (your ticket stub) for a Crowder flyrod, some Oaklay sunglasses, and some other surprise items. The doors will open at 6:00 and the show starts at 7:00, there will be a pre and post party somewhere downtown (still not finalized) so I will keep you posted on that. In addition to the film tour flicks we will have two additional saltwater films, the one I made with Fly Max, "Fly Nation, Stuart, FL" and an additional film from the guys at World Angling! The tickets are on sale now at the Lyric box office or online at Lyric Theatre website.

I need to take this time to thank the sponsors that have made this possible.

Alright now for some fishing news and updates. I am sure most have you had read my last entry about the jacks showing up. So yes they are here, does this mean that I have been on them everyday? The answer is no. The jack game is very weather dependent. Just like everything else, when the conditions are right, which they have not been much of this winter, the fish are there. You need the right winds and water temperatures and then you have to find them. I have had a few good days on the jacks, cobia and even one day with good tarpon action but for the most part the ocean has been too rough. I fish everyday and if mother nature gives me the chance to look for them I do and if not I go to the areas I know to catch fish and have a good time. It has been a tough winter weather wise but I have managed to catch fish and have a good time every single day. If you read my previous posts you will know what the winter time fishing is, loads of ladyfish, pompano, bluefish, and trout. I know I sound like a broken record, but they are loads of fun just not much to write posts about.
