Sewanee Flyfishers

I have had some great trips lately but, the last three days have been spent with a bunch of guys that call themselves the Sewanee Flyfishers. Not exactly a Motley Crew just a bunch of buddies that went to Sewanee University together and have been doing annual fly fishing trips for I believe they said eleven years now. This year they decided to make Stuart the destination for the annual trip and I am glad I could put it together for them. We had 3 boats and everyone caught loads of fish. Every single one of them were excellent fly casters, which made my job very easy. The first 2 days we spent snook fishing early followed by live chumming offshore. Everyone caught more then their fill of little tunnies and we even had sailfish chummed up both days but could not get them to eat the fly. Today was the third and final day so we mixed it up a bit. We started with one of the best snook on fly bites I have had in a while, I honestly can't tell you how many we landed but we lost almost as many as we landed, let's just call it action packed. We followed up the snook fishing by searching for tarpon in the river, we found a fair number of big fish blasting mullet but could not get them to eat the fly. Nonetheless, it was a spectacular sight and my good friend Capt. Scott Cormier who was one of the guides on this trip did hook one on a DOA BFL (Big Fish Lure) and I managed to get a few pictures of it in the air. I just wanted to give some props to these guys because they exemplify the sport and I am already looking forward to the next time they choose Stuart for their annual outing.

Here are a couple pictures of Vicky and Ricky Raleigh, we had a great morning of snook fishing last week.

Here are few shots of long time clients of mine Elliott Haverlack and Rick Moyer, we had a great couple days. The highlight for me on this trip was Rick's 10.5 pound trout he caught on a DOA shrimp. They also managed tarpon, snook, and tunnies.

There is still time to get into the snook, tarpon, and live chumming action. Give me a call and let's get out a day I have plenty of openings starting the 10th of August.
